Caroline's 5 Month Update

Caroline 5 Months

Where has the time gone? It's amazing how quickly five months has passed. Caroline is still the sweetest baby - people often mention how happy and laid back she is.
  • Caroline goes to bed around 8 and wakes up once around 6:30 to eat. Then she's back to sleep until about 9. I thought Riley was sleeping 12 hours straight by this point, but looking back at her 5 month post, I guess she wasn't.
  • Caroline still has the pacifier during naps. She's just about able to get it in herself if she happens to spit it out. I'm eagerly awaiting that day! Naps are pretty good - she usually takes two 2 hour naps a day and one catnap late in the day. Sometimes I have to replace a paci, but she sleeps straight through almost as often.
  • Our spit up problem is so much better! I feed her solids after each daytime feeding and that has helped tremendously. We had to have her weight rechecked 2 weeks after her 4 month appointment and she had gained a whole pound! Quite an improvement after not gaining anything between two and a half and four months.  I'm so glad we decided to go this route rather than putting her on medicine.
  • Caroline has found her feet - she loves to play with them as well as gnaw on them. She also sticks anything and everything she can get her hands on right in her mouth. I don't know if she's teething or it's just her way of exploring the world. I do know that I got the materials to make some teething necklaces (I wear them, she plays with them) last night - I think she's going to love them.
In case you're curious, you can find the pattern I used for Caroline's headband here or purchase one here. The onesie stickers are from Little Baby Bublebee on Etsy (the Katherine design).

P.S. Can someone tell me if my pictures looked washed out on their monitor? They look bright in iPhoto, but as soon as I upload them to flickr, they look all pale and boring. I'm not sure what's happening. I do have my color set to sRGB.

  1. Beautiful pictures :) I love the first one.... It's so sweet :) and no, I don't think they look washed out. :) (although I am on an iPod, I don't know if that would make a difference or not)

    1. Thanks! They look fine on my iPhone, too. Perhaps it's just that my computer is a little bit older?

  2. Just viewed all of the pictures on my fairly ancient computer - and they look fine! Lovely to see - pity they grow up so darn fast! Just enjoy every minute of your children when they're young: those times never return!

    1. Thanks, Isobel! Time goes by way too fast. I'm trying to treasure each moment.

  3. She's getting cuter every day! And if I ever have another baby, I'm ordering those stickers! :)

    1. I love the stickers! There are so many great options now - there weren't nearly as many two and a half years ago when Riley was born. They have pregnancy sets, too... wish I had gotten some of those and documented my pregnancy better.
