Hopefully Back...

For those of you who have inquired if everything is okay, thank you! It is. We've just been busier than usual around here, I guess. Blogging tends to take the back burner when something needs to be cut out.

camp
My husband is a youth pastor, so summer is a very busy time with youth trips, camp, etc. Each time we'd leave, I had great hopes of picking back up with posts when we got home but that never quite seemed to happen. Right when I was about to start things up again, my in-laws came to visit and my brother got hurt.

one week after his accident - doing great
My brother, Christopher, is almost 5 years younger than I am. Supposed to start med school this week, he was in an accident with some friends a couple weeks ago. He was thrown from the bed of a small John Deere ATV and cracked his skull. He completely lost his short term memory (which would have been hysterical in any other situation). Initially, the doctors in our small town made the injury seem life-threatening. They implied that he would be air lifted to Orlando and that emergency surgery would be happening that night. Thankfully, once the neurosurgeon saw his CT scan, things calmed down slightly. He was transferred to Orlando in an ambulance and did not have to have surgery.

Once he was seen by the surgeon, we realized the blow missed his temporal artery by a fraction of an inch. Had he hit that, surgery would have been necessary and he might never have been the same.

He's made an incredibly quick recovery - God is good. He decided to try to start med school this week, but after making the trip to VCU and moving into his apartment, he came to the conclusion that he isn't ready. It took a toll on him and he wants to be able to begin his studies while operating at 100%.

Disappointed, he's hoping to get a job as a lab assistant while he waits to start school next fall. Prayers for his continued recovery are greatly appreciated.

I am excited to tell you that I have two new patterns in the works - a really cute iPhone cozy and a super-scrubby Swiffer cover. I'm working on the phone case today and hope to have it up on the blog later this week. Those things will also be making their way into the shop, as well.

Again, thanks for all who have missed the posts and hopefully there will be more regular posts from here on out. I've got some ideas up my sleeve that I hope will be fun.
