Etsy Interview with Jessica from Candy Curls Bowtique

Can you believe it's already Wednesday again?  The weeks are just flying by.  This week, we're interviewing the girl behind Candy Curls Bowtique.  Her shop is adorable and I think you'll love her hair accessories if you have a little girl to shop for.

Tell me a little about yourself:

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica Headland, and I'm a WAHM and military wife. I grew up overseas, which is where I met my husband. He was the boy next door, and I was in love. Fast forward many years later where we meet up again, and now we've been together for seven years. We have a two year old daughter together, and I just feel incredibly blessed to have such an amazing family. I originally went to school to be an esthetician, but after I had my daughter, I quickly realized that I didn't want to be away from her. Luckily, I was able to put my love of creating to use!

Yay for being able to stay with your daughter! I've heard of several moms who are giving Etsy a try in hopes of making a extra money so they can stay at home with their kids!

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

Obsessive, Compassionate, Kind

What three words describe your Etsy shop?

Fun, Quirky, Charming

How long have you been crafting? When did you start selling on Etsy and what inspired you to give it a try?

My mom tells me that I've always been a very crafty child, but I didn't realize this was something that you could get into as an actual business. My daughter is my inspiration for everything. She has long hair that never does what it's supposed to (I say that she has Harry Potter hair). I started making hair accessories for her, and what turned into a hobby grew into an obsession. Though I've been working hard and creating for months now, I just opened my shop on Etsy a couple of weeks ago.

That's fantastic.  I hope your shop is super-successful!  I think I might know one of your future customers.

Besides creating, what are you passionate about?

I'm passionate about my family more than anything. I love to cook, especially Korean cuisine since I grew up there. I also love to travel and see new things and experience different cultures.

My husband has visited Korea, but I've never had the chance.  How neat that you've gotten to live in a different country and experience a different culture first-hand!

What does your craft space look like? Are you an organized crafter or would you be embarrassed for us to take a peek at your work space?

I would say my craft space is probably on the messier side, especially when I'm creating. But I'm not embarrassed by it, its my favorite space in the house.

Currently, what are your favorite two items from your shop?

I love this one because not only is it pretty, but it's cool, and goes with everything.

This one is colorful and fun and I love working with fabrics.

What are some of your favorite Etsy shops?

My absolute favorite Etsy shop is Bijou Baby Boutique. The owner is a good friend of mine, and I've seen her creative process. She's incredibly passionate, and her creations are beautiful.

Finally, what suggestions would you make to someone who's thinking about starting an Etsy shop?

I would say to just do it! There's isn't a better feeling than being able to wake up every morning knowing you'll be doing something that you really love. Creating anything that you put so much time and effort and thought into, it;s incredibly fulfilling.

Jessica, thank you so much for answering our questions!  You were fantastic.

Now it's time for my favorite part: sharing a favorite item or two from the featured shop.

Check out this little number!  Isn't it sweet?  Riley has so many little dresses it would match perfectly.

And wouldn't this be perfect for the 4th of July?  I love the simplicity of the flower and the boldness of the colors!

Don't forget to stop by the Candy Curls Bowtique and check out her many great items!  I don't think you'll be disappointed that you did.
