Etsy Interview with Jeanne from HopSkimJumpPaper

This week's feature is a little late as my husband and I were on a youth trip with the girls at our church.  We had a wonderful time seeing God's creation on the west coast of Florida. David was just saying today that it's neat that trips like that are a part of his job. I concur. I'm glad I get to be a part of it. I'm also glad to be involved with such a great group of young people. It's not very often you're with a group of kids for more than a day without any problems - we're blessed!
Enough on that. This week, we're meeting the girl behind HopSkipJumpPaper. Jeanne describes her work as "Clean and modern. Colorful and bright," and I don't see how you could disagree. One look at her shop will give you baby fever in no time.

Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Jeanne. I'm a stay-at-home-mom to a very active little boy. I'm also a graphic designer with over 10 years of experience in marketing and advertising. After I had my son, I left my corporate job and started to look for a creative outlet. I stumbled onto Etsy and opened my first shop, earlybirdgraphics, in July 2010. I found my creative itch wasn't fully scratched, and opened HopSkipJumpPaper several months later.

What three words would you use to describe yourself?
hard-working, active, cheerful

What three words describe your Etsy shop?
modern, fun, clever

How long have you been crafting? When did you start selling on Etsy and what inspired you to give it a try?
I started designing in high school, but didn't fully get into the art scene until I went to school at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I opened HopSkipJump in February 2011. When I was decorating my son's nursery in 2009, I had trouble finding art that wasn't too cutsey. I decided to make my own!

Besides creating, what are you passionate about?
We live in Colorado, and spend much of our time outdoors hiking, biking and playing on the playground. I also love to read novels and travel.

What does your craft space look like? Are you an organized crafter or would you be embarrassed for us to take a peak at your workspace?
My husband and I share a home office. My laptop, printer, and supplies are tucked into our little space. I'm very organized and constantly rearrange my space.

Currently, what are your favorite 2 items from your shop?

What are some of your favorite Etsy shops?

Finally, what suggestions would you make to someone who’s thinking about starting an Etsy shop?
Read the forums, be patient with yourself, and work hard!

Thanks, Jeanne!  I love your work and have been looking forward to sharing my favorites!
