Would you take a look at that face? It doesn't get much happier than that - I just wish I could get those smiles out of our biggest girl on a regular basis (for the camera, that is). Last Saturday, Riley and Daddy had "5 dates." They went to Walmart and the cleaners, and when they got home, David made Riley his specialty - a PBJ. He even went so far as to cut the sandwich into little hearts (I got a good one, didn't I? My husband is a keeper.).
Let me just tell you, making a peanut butter sandwich is serious business. It's an art and there is definitely a wrong way to do it. Lots of peanut butter (to the very edge but not going over, of course); not too much jelly (blackberry jam whenever possible); and bread that is lined up just so. I have pictures on my old computer of David giving Riley a lesson on the perfect PBJ when she was about 5 months old. Caroline's already had hers, too.
I don't know if Riley will remember these days forever so I try to take lots of photos. As a friend of ours recently said, sometimes you hear stories and see pictures so much they become memories. I doubt she'll realize how rare it is to have a dad like she has - I know I didn't realize how unique my dad was when I was a kid. I thought everyone had a great daddy like mine.
May this little post be a reminder not to take the people in your life for granted.

Heart sandwiches? Oh my! What a sweet Daddy! And of course it makes him super hot!
