Just two more months until we celebrate this little one's first birthday - it doesn't seem possible. I'm looking forward to planning the party, but that's going to have to wait until after Bible Conference next week (that's how David and I met 12 years ago... it holds a special place in our hearts for that reason and many others). I've got a theme all picked out, but I'm not excited that my baby is turning one.
Here's a little bit of what's going on in this 10 month old's life.
- Eating. Lots and lots of eating. You'd never know it by looking at her, but Caroline is a bottomless pit. She loves everything we've given her (with the exception of yogurt, but she'll even eat that now) and I'm convinced she doesn't have a full switch.
- Peekaboo. Sometime between my last post and this one Caroline started playing peekaboo. It's absolutely adorable because her hands aren't over her eyes. They're right above them so she can still see. She'll also cover our faces when we say "play peekaboo, Caroline." I love it.
- Receiving kisses. She's been giving kisses for a while, but when you pucker up, Caroline bends her head over so one can be planted on her forehead. When she dishes out the kisses, they're sloppy and totally open mouth. My cheek always ends up wet, but it's well worth it.
- Scooting. She's still scooting backwards. When I was taking her pictures yesterday, she wanted my lens cap so badly I really thought she was about to crawl over and get it. Had we not been on our squishy mattress topper, I think she might have done it. Too bad they don't make toy lens caps - Caroline would be in heaven.
- Playing with Riley. Caroline loves to be with Riley. Riley is always making her "food" or taking care of her needs. The other day, Caroline spit up (for the first time in ages... praise the Lord that's not a regular occurrence anymore). Riley ran and got some napkins to clean her up. I wanted to see how it would unfold and what I saw and heard melted this mommy's heart. Riley was saying things like "It's okay, Caroline. I'll wipe you up. It's okay, sweetheart, you're okay. I'm going to go get another napkin and wipe off your hands." I of course took over after Riley did her thing, but it was so sweet to see her taking care of little Caroline. I hope they're best friends forever.
